Dots and Stripes, Finger Foods Weekly Post

It's been a couple weeks since I checked in with my ladies over at the Finger Foods Theme Buffet and did a prompt. As it's only once a week, I really should get these in weekly! This week was dots and stripes and here's what I came up with.

I started with one finger in Julep Janel Bombshell, one in Sinful Colors Gorgeous and two in KBShimmer Lottie Dottie. Lottie Dottie was actually the colour inspiration for this manicure, however I find that The Julep is looking a lot more red in pictures. In my hand both these colours in the bottles appeared to match a lot better. Oh well, I still like the final look. As an FYI, this is three easy coats of Lottie Dottie. Isn't this polish happy...something about circle glitters just makes me happy!

After my base colour and bottom third contrasting swipes were dry, I went in with white acrylic for the stripes and added the contrasting dots in the polishes. Topper and that is all! Check out the InLinkz below for all the Dots and Stripes lovelies!

Polish Addict Nail Color, Jellyfish I with Nail Stamping

This one is a stamping gradient I whipped up for my son Carson's third birthday which is today! He's the weenut in our family and I can't wait to spend the weekend with him doing lots of immature fun boy things! I love him to the moon and back...miles and miles forevever ad infinitum!!!! You get it!

A quick word on my base colour, this is Jellyfish by Polish Addict Nail Color and I love it with my whole heart. I chose it because...well it's fab, but also cause it kinda reminds me of rainbow cake batter.

That said, mommy needed a manicure to wear through all the festivities. ‎Right away I reached for my Bundle Monster Holiday Set for its birthday plates. Unfortunately none of them were doing it for me so I chose this star gradient image from the Fourth of July plate.

The Blue is Sally Hansen Blue Me Away. Its still my go to blue for stamping. ‎I hope you like this quick stamping gradient. I really didn't know what I wanted to do, but this is the right amount of baby/big boy, festive and mommy! I love it!

KBShimmer, U Rock My Heart Swatch Review

Hello and what's shaking today ladies? 

Today's post is the third and last from the Valentine's Day Trio from KBShimmer. This was actually my second attempt at this post. My first mani didn't survive a diaper change. That one was U Rock My Heart over a medium grey...lovely!!! This look I liked even better, but I'm a total girlie girl.

This is one gently massaged coat of U Rock My Heart over Sally Hansen Berry Juicy. You don't need to fish for anything in this! The hearts and stars come out to play all on their own, which is rare for this type of polish. I did use a toothpick to place a couple of the hearts and stars where I wanted them, but only because I got too many at once! Fab huh?

Make sure you topcoat this one as the tips of the stars will catch slightly on stuff if you don't, but that's any star glitter not an issue with the glitter here. 

This last glitter was me dorking around frankening again. I loved Whole Lava Luvin so much I felt like I need more reds similar in my stash. I used an old KBShimmer topcoat bottle to mix a couple older polishes. Mine is on the left.  I love my colour, it will also make a pretty mani I think...but my 'holo' is really lacking it's more of a shimmer polish. I do love it, but I'm no pro like the polish genius's out there like Christy Rose of KBShimmer. Does anyone else Franken?

KBShimmer, Falling For Hue Swatch Review

This is the second polish treat I have for you from the KBShimmer Valentine's Trio. It might be my favorite. I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but my favorite style of polish is white or pastel crelly with glitter or  micro glitter. So this one is right up my alley. Its girly and a little romantic and lovely. Of all the polish of this type I've tried so far KBShimmer is top two if not number one. 

Some polish like this takes a lot of what I call 'massaging' this one not at all! KBShimmer just has these down. This is two easy coats plus topper. 

I love the contrast of the colour in this polish and can't wait to wear it again soon with art on top. I know it's a Valentine's shade, but I could wear it year round. I'm writing this post and wishing I'd mattified it at the end. Hmmmmm, maybe matte week? What do you think?

KBShimmer, Whole Lava Lovin, DIY Patterned Nail Studs

I've never really posted a tutorial on here before, so I thought it was high time I did. But what to do??? This technique I have been wanting to try, and haven't seen it out there. I figured why not figure it out and share!

Below is a step by step pictorial on how I created my very own patterned nail studs. 

What you need:

-nail studs any colour, these were old scuffed ones I saved for this purpose

-polish in two colours

-sticky tac or poster gum...or whatever they call it where you are from

-a dotting tool that's super small, or a toothpick

Step 1. Roll a piece of stick tac into a small log. Tap gently so it sits flat on your surface.

Step 2. Tap your studs gently into the tac so they hold in place.

Step 3. Paint in colour one and allow to dry.

Step 4. Get a small amount of colour two and place a drop on a small piece of paper.

Step 5. Dot on your centre dot followed by three along the top and three along the bottom. Allow to dry.

Dab topcoat on where you would like these placed and tap them lightly into place. Dry one minute than topcoat the entire finger. 

The polish used in this look was KBShimmer's Whole Lava Lovin as swatched yesterday.

I wore these while the Olympics was still on, so this last shot is kind of meant to be patriotic and they matched my Roots Canada Mittens...best mitts ever by the way!!

KBShimmer, Whole Lava Lovin Swatch Review

So I managed to get my hands on a set of KBShimmer's Valentine's Day 2014 Nail Polish Trio. Once I saw this online, I knew we were meant to be! I've prepared swatch posts for yew and some  nail art as well using these three beauties.

Today is the first post and it's some great shots of Whole Lava Lovin. I love that name. Clever due to the slight orange/red nature of the polish. Close to a pure red, this does have a pretty orange under current reminiscent of lava.

This was two coats with my KB topcoat that didn't dull the holo at all.

Look at the difference in colour in the light box vs sunlight shots. I was surprised. Most polish doesn't look this different in different light. I had to highlight this above for you. Both are pure beauty. 

The flare in this red is really strong. Not the strongest I've seen in a red, but strong enough to be gorgeous while still wearable for most people. 

I considered just the two, but this was a surprise fave and that's why I started out with it for you. I could see myself wearing this one all year round as a go to red.
