#naillinkup April Showers

Ok, so today I have a little look for you inspired by spring and those April showers most of us are now experiencing. When #naillinkup suggested April Showers it gave me an excuse to use another untried plate image. The base for this is from a fantastic set I got at Christmas from Winners. A Color Club Neons set...with no names unfortunately just numbers on the bottom. This is Color Club 36, unless anyone can tell me a real name. Formula on this was thin but great. I'm wondering if they would marble well. Anyway, I used the cute cloud image from Bundle Monster Plate 312 and stamped all the images, then used the decal technique and Above The Curve Don't Blink for the holo storm clouds.

Now ladies, I want you all to close your eyes and imagine what an actual holo storm would be like!

Polished Bookworms, Big Little Lies

‎This is my mani for a book and nail club I joined on Facebook linked here if you are interested in joining. Our first book was Big Little Lies By Liane Moriarty. The idea is we voted in a book for each month, we then discuss and create a mani from the imagery of the story.

I created these hilarious Darth Vader nails after a scene where a therapist mentioned that a child in the story named Ziggy thinks his real father is Darth Vader. I thought this was funny, and the idea stuck in my head for the mani.

I used China Glaze Liquid Leather for my black base and Above The Curve Don't Blink for my Vader nail. The words and cartoon like Vader were created with acrylic and the designs with a Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in Silver.

This was a good practice for my lettering, but I'm still in need of much more practice. Apologies for the direct sunlight, I was trying to get the holo, but even after edits these were a little bright!

January 3, Water Spots

So girls this is not what we think of when we think water spotted mani right? I know, but I got a headache from the perfume when I tried that technique last time, and then the clean up was like yikes! So. I've decided to cheat, and thought this was a clever way to do it. I web searched and found a Lucy's stash Youtube tutorial on these linked here. And voila! Water spots...no? I think it was a pretty clever cheat, and I must say a neat mani. Hers, were of course flawless, so check the out too. By the way, the base is Tardis from Above The Curve. Two coats and flawless.

Not as heat in macro, but shows the cool one stroke technique used. I'm thinking I'd like to recreate this again sometime.

Above The Curve Nail Polish, Tardis

Ohhhh, blue holo swatchie swatchie today! This is Tardis from Above The Curve. Tardis is a teal leaning blue medium holo. This is two coats with quick dry topcoat. This polish is really pretty in person, and in any light.

This polish would definately look great with some holiday nail art.

Halloween Nail Art, Franken-Happy

Here it is, my second Halloween look, and my very first portrait...sort of! I've been scared of the precision needed for portraits but Frank here allowed for some leeway. I followed along with a Robin Moses video and used only grey, black and white acrylic for this. The base is Above the Curve Don't Blink in two coats. I'm happy with the final look, but my Frank is a little too happy!

So what do you think, spooky?

Floral and Zebra Nail Art, Above the Curve Glitter

This look was I nspired by dizzydes86 on Instagram. Hers is a different colour palette, but If you love the art make sure to check her page out. For base I used my gorgeous Sinful Colors Endless Blue in two coats topped with Above The Curve's Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey. I took a swat hero for you because it's just so pretty on it's own.

After that I added the zebra and orange roses in acrylic. Why orange? I don't know, seemed the thing to do at the time! I don't know about you, but I love the combo.

Let me know if I'm out to lunch, or this colour combo rocks.

Banana To a Party from Above The Curve, Yellow for September Challenges

These, I love! I'm really warming up to yellows and greens lately. It's not historically my thing, I mean I only own two yellows in my stash but I keep reaching for this Above The Curve don't I? Anyway, this is one coat over NYC Lexington Yellow as base. Then I used yellow gold and black acrylic to create these fading into fall flowers. In Ontario anyway, the leaves started to pop out some yellows and red this week. Sigh! This look is my Yellow prompt for the September Challenges at #31dc2 and #31dc2014. I was inspired by nailartbymae on Instagram...which now that I want to link her my browser can't find her...grrrrrr. I will update here with a link if I can find her. Her looks a stunner and was done in orange.

Hope you like my entry for Yellow in the September Challenges.

Red, Blue and Yellow Inspired Floral Nail Art

This post is for my Crumpets Nail Tarts Tri-Polish Tuesdays. The idea being there are three colours chosen for the whole month, and you make mani combos on Tuesdays using only those colours. (I'm just wondering at this moment if my use of acrylics would count...too late now!) the art of this one was inspired by @Lynieczka on Instagram linked here. Her colours were very different as you can image.

I used one coat of Above The Curve Banana To A Party over one coat of NYC Lexington Yellow for my art base, and acrylics for my design.

I know that this isn't a design or combo I would have come up with on my own, so this is what makes those Facebook groups and challenges fun.

OMD2, 20. Chevron

These are my a Entry for the Chevron prompt. I'm a little behind on my prompts right now, but I had a great weekend with my family so it was worth it! This lovely grey holo is two coats of Above a the Curve Don't Blink, and the purple Above The Curve Pretend It's A Plan. The chevrons I masked off with Green Goddesss Creations Nail Masks. I then used black and white acrylic for the remaining details.

I really liked these and as usual my pot lights made the holo...fantastic! Tune into tomorrow, as I play catch up.

Cheers all,

OMD2, 6. Duochrome

For these I started with a base of Sinful Colors Gorgeous, after that I layered on a ton of duochromes and shimmer polishes to create this sunset look. I've done a sunset prior to this, but wanted to attempt this one in an all shimmery look. I'm not going to list all the polishes, but mostly it's the Above The Curve Doctor Who Collection number two. The island and trees were created with black acrylic paint.

This image below I took outside as the day was cloudy and this mani was a sparkling tricky mess to get pics of.

This last picture is just the fingers with the island art in close up. I'm pretty happy with how these turned out.

Above The Curve, Don't Blink with Floral

This is Don't Blink by Above The Curve. Another of the minis I won. This one I had been saving till I thought of something cute art wise to wear with it, because it was my fave. I'm really partial to grey tones. This is two coats which were also easy. This is a subtle silver/grey holo with darker gunmetal grey micro bits through out. The holo payoff was a weenie bit more subdued then some of the others, making it perfect for use as an art base. This round, I used it along with this black and white floral accent finger design you might recognize.

This shot below is in direct sunlight. You can see how pretty the fire in this one is even though it's subtle.

All in all this Dr. who collection from Above The Curve has been fantastic!
