Candy Corn - Oct 4

Just a quick entry for the October 4 prompt Candy Corn for the Halloween Challenge on Instagram at #nailartoct. These are Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Strips in How Corny, then I started to do a gradient which bled and smudged the base. Never had that before, so I free handed the lines with the bottle brush using NYC Lexington Yellow, OPI Shop 'Til Sunset and China Glaze White On White over a base of the China Glaze white. Pardon my cuticles, but that yellow really stained!

Also fooling around with my light box yesterday, testing out different backdrops. I want to keep improving the site quality, and with my media background my first priority is photos!! I am switching to my new camera soon, so that should help. Just playing around with settings before I start using it.

Thanks for stopping by, hope I didn't make you too hungry for candy!

Gold Halloween - Oct 1

Now, I know these are late for the Halloween nails on the Instagram Nail Challenge at #nailartoct. But I started late because I didn't want to remove my 'Nails I Love' manicure yet. In fact, I called a friend over and these are her hands. I felt like I earned it! If you ever want to have a really good laugh, give a friend a mani and then try to explain to them the art of hand positioning! That's why she is laughing in the background of this photo.

The polishes used are China Glaze Stone Cold for the dots over two coats of China Glaze Goldie But Goodie as the base.

It was fun doing someones nails for a change, but I did forget to give her a blogger clean up and oil! Oh well.

Nail Challenge 2013 Wrap Up - Part 1

So here we are, and we made it through to the other side of the 2013 Nail Challenge. This was a fun, challenging and inspirational adventure to take with all the nail ladies this year. At times I felt like I bit off more than I could chew,  but I never gave up and only fell one day behind a couple times. I feel like my first challenge was definitely a success.

I'm going to recap the challenge for you and link up the post for each below it's picture. If you missed any, feel free to check them out this time around. Also, if there is any comments, or posts you would like me to recreate in a different colour combo please leave a comment on the post. I would love to try these again if anyone is interested.

Nail Challenge 2013: Day 31, Nails I Love

So my very first blog I started following was Kelsie's Nail Files. Kelsie is a fellow Canadian, and does lovely work. I couldn't think of a better nail artist to emulate for this prompt.

These nails are actually my version of her most recent post which was featured in Nail It Magazine. See, very talented! Anyway, mine started with a base of Finger Paints Don't Make a Scene. I then created a gradient with some OPI polish. Problem is these were swag from a MasterCard event, so I can't for sure tell you the actual colours. The red says Passion for Fashion, the orange Shop 'Til Sunset. My friend attended an event, and thought of me! Lovely friend, with many manicures in her future!

Here is a photo of the gradient before I added the design.

I realized halfway through I can't find my detail brush, so these were done with a toothpick and dotting tool. I really do like them though. Not as fantastic as Kelsie's, but I hope she'd be proud.

I added gold nail studs and voila! Fall lovelies for you. This is the last post for the challenge. I should for sure thank my husband for his patience during the challenge. Now it's time to regrow that left hand and rest my cuticles. But don't worry, I still have lots of posts lined up...just maybe not every single day!!
