Holiday Decorations

So this design is based on a fave decoration of mine as a child during the holiday season. It was a  mini candle holder with a spinning fan thingy on top. The heat from the candles caused the fan paddles to spin. The base was like a small Christmas wreath. If you've ever seen National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, the Griswald's have one in the movie.

I didn't know how to translate the fan part, so I focused on the candle portion. My base colour is Finger Paints Don't Make a Scene topped with Color Club Pear-Spective.  I have to tell you I adored this combo and want to use it again soon. It gave me a new perspective on how pretty nude can be.

I used black acrylic to go in and make a base outline, then I went over the leaf area with Nicole by OPI Daffy Dill and Orly Green With Envy on opposing sides for a 3D effect. I dotted on Sally Girl Christmas Red Glitter for the berries. The candle was white acrylic with the Sally Girl red, the flames Sally Hansen Lite and the red again.

These were festive, simple and I think kind of romantic.

Cheers all,

  2. Oh I totally know what you are talking about! I think they are called Christmas pyramids or something like that. I actually just watched that movie the other day, good stuff :) I think they came out beautiful, nice work!

    1. That movie is a Christmas fave in my house, my husband grew up watching it and brought the tradition to me. I know they have a funny name, but can't at all remember. Maybe someone on here will know. Might be pyramid. I should google it!

    2. Thanks. Lol. Much easier to get my detail when it's only one finger.
